[ About the software ]
The NEC Express5800/110Ge, NEC Express5800/GT110a System BIOS Update Module
supports the following functional enhancement in the NEC Express5800/110Ge, NEC
Express5800/GT110a models:
- Microcode update for Intel(R)Xeon(R) Processor 3100 series,
Microcode update for Intel(R)Pentium(R) Processor E2000 series,
Microcode update for Intel(R)Celeron(R) Processor 400 series
- This update resolves an issue on the Intel(R)Xeon(R) Processor 3100
series, Intel(R)Pentium(R) Processor E2000 series and Intel(R)
Celeron(R) Processor 400 series that could result in an application
error, blue screen, or other unpredictable system behavior under
an unlikely and complex sequence of conditions in 64bit mode.
- This issue does not occur in following environments
32bit OS environment
32bit applications in 64bit OS environment.
Attention:
* Incorrect update could result in the problems such as failure to boot the
system. Update the system following the instructions in this document to
prevent the error in operation. Unexpected accidents such as power failure,
lightning strike, interrupt and noise during the system update may damage
the device or make the system malfunction in the worst case. Be noted that
you may need to pay for the repair fee for the above cases.
* When you use Windows Server(R) 2008, be sure to refer to "Hardware
Compatibility Information" and "Software Compatibility Information" in
Windows Server(R) 2008 Information-related WEB site.
* When you use Windows Server(R) 2008, be sure to refer to "Installation
Supplement Guide" in Windows Server(R) 2008 Information-related WEB site to
prevent the error in operation.
* When Windows(R) BitLocker(TM) function is set to "Enabled", update the
system BIOS after making the function "Disabled". Then make the function "
Enabled" after update and reboot of the system. If you update the system
BIOS without making the function "Disabled", you may need the recovery
password when you boot the system.
* When you use Hyper-V Ver.1.0 of Windows Server(R) 2008, do not select "ACPI
C2" in the Processor C3 Report selection menu in the SETUP menu. If you
select "ACPI C2", it could result in much-delay of the system time display
on the Guest OS.

This software is available for the users who use the following models with the
following BIOS Version.

Note: You do not need to update the system BIOS when its version is newer than
the above version since it has already included the equivalent enhancements.
Be sure to check the BIOS Version with the following procedures.
1. Power on the system and the contents of process by
POST(Power On Self-Test) will be shown on the screen. After a short
time, the following message will appear. Start BIOS SETUP screen by
pressing <F2> key.
"Press <F2> to enter SETUP"
Note: In case the LOGO screen appears, you can change to the screen mode
which shows the above message by pressing <ESC> key.
2. Select "System Management" after moving the cursor on the position of
"Server" with the arrow key after starting BIOS SETUP screen.
3. The BIOS Version will be shown on the screen.
4. Exit "System Management" screen with the <ESC> key after checking
the BIOS Version.
5. Terminate the BIOS SETUP screen by selecting "Exit Discarding Changes"
after moving the cursor on the position of "Exit" with the arrow key.
(*) Refer to "BIOS SETUP" in the chapter of "Hardware Part" in the user's
guide for details of BIOS SETUP setting.
You can check the BIOS Version with the following procedure when you use
Windows(R) OS.
1. Start "System Information".
(Start->Programs->Accessories->System Tools->System Information)
2. Select "System Summary".
3. Check the BIOS version by the profile of "BIOS version/Date".
Be certain to read carefully the following NEC software license agreement
before applying this software update module. If you can not agree to the terms
of the agreement, do not download this software. By downloading the software
you will be bounded by the terms of the agreement.
[User License Agreement]
NEC Corporation ("NEC") grants you the right to use the software program
("Software") under the terms and conditions of this Agreement only in the
country in which you acquired the Software. You shall agree to all provisions
of this Agreement and assume responsibility for selection, installation, use
and effect of the Software purchased for your desired effect.
The Software uses the software ("GPL Module") granted by GNU General
Public License("GPL") or GNU Lesser General Public License("LGPL"). This
Agreement does not cover GPL Module.
The Software includes the following GPL Module.

You can distribute or change the module based on the conditions of
GNU General Public License Version 2 or any later Version,
stipulated by Free Software Foundation. The module is supposed to be useful,
however, NEC does not guarantee it. In addition, NEC does not release any
copyright of GPL Module, designed by NEC. You need to refer to COPYING
file for details of GNU General Public License Version 2.
You shall agree that NEC does not answer to any questions regarding the GPL
Module.
By using the Software including GPL Module, you will be bounded by the
terms stipulated in GPL.
This Agreement is applicable to the Software excluding GPL Module aforesaid.
1. Terms
1.1 This Agreement shall come into force on the date of your receipt of the
Software.
1.2 You may terminate the license granted hereunder by notifying us in writing
at least one month prior to the desired termination date.
1.3 NEC may terminate the license granted you hereunder at any time if you
fail to comply with any terms and conditions of this Agreement.
1.4 The license to the Software shall remain in force until the license is
terminated on the date set forth hereunder.
1.5 Upon termination of the license, other rights granted you hereunder shall
also be terminated. You must destroy or dispose of the Software, any copies
of the Software and manual and other materials provided with the Software.
2. Copyright
2.1 The Software shall solely be used in the NEC Express5800 servers and
workstations.
2.2 NEC grants you the right to use the Software only in the country in which
you acquired the Software in accordance with the conditions of the
preceding paragraph.
3. Copying, altering, and combining of the Software
3.1 You may only make one copy of the Software solely for a backup purpose,
provided, however, that the copy of the Software is loaded into permanent
memory of the system. You may store the Software solely to prevent damages
or loss of the memory media.
3.2 You shall place the copyright notice and other legends on each copy of the
Software.
3.3 You may not use, copy, alter, combine, publish, reproduce the Software over
the Internet, or otherwise dispose of the Software except as provided in
this Agreement.
3.4 You may not copy, publish the manual or other related documentation
provided with the Software, or reproduce such manual and documentation over
the Internet.
3.5 No intangible property right to the Software shall be transferred to you.
4. Transfer
4.1 You may assign your rights granted hereunder to a third party only if all
conditions below are satisfied:
a. You shall assign and shall not retain this Agreement, the Software, all
copies of the Software, or the manual or other related documentation
provided with the Software.
b. The transferee agrees to this Agreement.
4.2 You shall not sublicense, assign, transfer, or otherwise dispose of the
Software or the right of use to any third party except as provided herein.
5. Reverse compile
You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise disassemble the
Software.
6. Limitation of warranties
6.1 The Software is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. In no event
shall NEC be liable with respect to any claim by you on account of or
arising out of the use of the Software.
6.2 Notwithstanding the provisions of the preceding paragraph, in case NEC
makes any bug-fix version to the Software, NEC will, at its expense,
furnish you with such bug-fix version, update version, or information in
relation to such bug-fix or update version both in the source code form and
object code form, and such bug-fix version or update version shall be
considered as the licensed Software.
7. No liability
In no event shall NEC be liable for any indirect or consequential damages
or loss of profit or damages based on any third party claim, even if NEC
has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

BIOS Update Procedure
================================================================================
Extract the software and update the system BIOS following the procedures below.
[Extraction Procedure]
1. Download the module into any directory of hard disk.
2. Extract the module into any directory.
3. The software and its procedure manual will be extracted into the forder.
You can refer to the procedure manual(README file) by Notepad of Windows(R)
OS. Execute the System BIOS Update following the manual.
