================================================================================ Release Notes for NEC Express5800/T110d, NEC Express5800/T120d BMC firmware 00.11, SDR 00.10 (Linux) ================================================================================ Software name : NEC Express5800/T110d, NEC Express5800/T120d BMC firmware update module for Linux Models : See below Software revisions: See below Type of software : BMC firmware -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [ About the software ] The NEC Express5800/T110d, NEC Express5800/T120d BMC firmware update module ("the software") supports the following functional enhancement in the NEC Express5800/T110d, NEC Express5800/T120d models: - Support the Filter Replacement Sensor. - Improved Web server function of EXPRESSSCOPE Engine 3 and changed the description of the online help. - Support the RETINA Security Scan. - Changed the limit of input character to 64 characters when creating the CSR in SSL configuration. - Changed the sel behavior. Clear all sel entry immediately if the sel configuration is changed from "Stop logging SEL" to "Clear all SEL" when the sel repository is full. - Fixed the issue to be not able to use "." character in the host name when creating a CSR in SSL configuration. - Fixed the issue that a negative value does not displayed correctly in the "Component"-"temperature" of EXPRESSSCOPE Engine 3. - Improved character-based remote console of EXPRESSSCOPE Engine 3 to enable to display during POST. - Changed to enable the user who logged in with operator user level to execute nmidump via command line interface of EXPRESSSCOPE Engine 3. Note: - To prevent a system failure, please read this document carefully and follow the procedure for successful update. Should your system malfunctions or is powered off due to an unplanned event during update (for example, power blackout or cutoff, lightening, and noise), the system may be damaged and fails to operate normally. In this case, any remedial measures shall be taken at your expense. - This software does not support virtualization environment. - If you use ExpressUpdate function of ESMPRO(R)ServerManager Version.5, [ Models and software revisions for update ] and [ Installation procedures ] are processed automatically. Please refrer to [ Notes ]. [ Models and software revisions to update ] Users who use the following server models and BMC firmware revisions need update: - Models to update: 1. NEC Express5800/T110d 2. NEC Express5800/T120d - BMC firmware revision to update: - BMC firmware BMC Firmware Revision: 00.10 NOTE: If your BMC firmware version is equal or later than the above, you do not require the update(the latest versions already include the functions to be added by the software). - How to confirm your BMC Firmware version: - By Xrasutl, to confirm your BMC Firmware version: (1) Run the xrasutl program. (2) Select the [Display the current IPMI infomation...] sub menu and press the Enter key. (3) Select the [IPMI Infomation] sub menu and press the Enter key. (4) Select the [Most Recent IPMI Data] sub menu and press the Enter key. (5) Select the [Management Controller Infomation] sub menu and press the Enter key. (6) Select the [Basbrd Mgmt Ctlr] sub menu. (7) The BMC firmware version of your system will be displayed. - By BIOS Setup, to confirm your BMC Firmware and version: (1) Power on the system. (2) When the following message appears, press the F2 key to start the BIOS Setup Menu. "Press <F2> to enter SETUP" (3) Using the arrow keys, move the cursor to [Server]. (4) Select the [System Management] sub menu and press the Enter key. (5) The software versions of your system will be displayed. (6) After confirmation of the software versions, press the ESC key and exit the [System Management] sub menu. (7) Move the cursor to [Exit], using the arrow keys. (8) Select [Exit Discarding Changes], and exit the BIOS Setup Menu. - By ESMPRO Manager Ver.5, to confirm your BMC Firmware version: (1) Run ESMPRO Manager Ver.5. (2) After selecting the server, select the [IPMI Information] sub menu and press the Enter key. (3) Select the [MC(Management Controller) Infomation] sub menu and press the Enter key. (4) Select the [Basbrd Mgmt Ctlr] sub menu and press the Enter key. (5) The BMC firmware version of your system will be displayed. - By EXPRESSSCOPE ENGINE2, to confirm your BMC Firmware version: (1) Run EXPRESSSCOPE ENGINE2. (2) Select the [Information] sub menu and press the Enter key. (3) Select the [System information] sub menu and press the Enter key. (4) Select the [Firmware] sub menu and press the Enter key. (5) The software versions of your system will be displayed. Please read the following User License Agreement ("Agreement") carefully. Downloading the Software indicates your acceptance of the terms and conditions of the Agreement. [User License Agreement] NEC Corporation ("NEC") grants you the right to use the Software under the terms and conditions of this Agreement only in the country in which you acquired the Software. Terms 1.1 This Agreement shall come into force on the date of your receipt of the Software. 1.2 You may terminate the license granted hereunder by notifying us in writing at least one month prior to the desired termination date. 1.3 NEC may terminate the license granted you hereunder at any time if you fail to comply with any terms and conditions of this Agreement. 1.4 The license to the Software shall remain in force until the license is terminated on the date set forth hereunder. 1.5 Upon termination of the license, other rights granted you hereunder shall also be terminated. You must destroy or dispose of the Software, any copies of the Software and manual and other materials provided with the Software. 2. Copyright 2.1 The Software shall solely be used in the NEC Express5800 servers and workstations. 2.2 NEC grants you the right to use the Software only in the country in which you acquired the Software in accordance with the conditions of the preceding paragraph. 3. Copying, altering, and combining of the Software 3.1 You may only make one copy of the Software solely for a backup purpose, provided, however, that the copy of the Software is loaded into permanent memory of the system. You may store the Software solely to prevent damages or loss of the memory media. 3.2 You shall place the copyright notice and other legends on each copy of the Software. 3.3 You may not use, copy, alter, combine, publish, reproduce the Software over the Internet, or otherwise dispose of the Software except as provided in this Agreement. 3.4 You may not copy, publish the manual or other related documentation provided with the Software, or reproduce such manual and documentation over the Internet. 3.5 No intangible property right to the Software shall be transferred to you. 4. Transfer 4.1 You may assign your rights granted hereunder to a third party only if all conditions below are satisfied: a. You shall assign and shall not retain this Agreement, the Software, all copies of the Software, or the manual or other related documentation provided with the Software. b. The transferee agrees to this Agreement. 4.2 You shall not sublicense, assign, transfer, or otherwise dispose of the Software or the right of use to any third party except as provided herein. 5. Reverse compile You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise disassemble the Software. 6. Limitation of warranties 6.1 The Software is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. In no event shall NEC be liable with respect to any claim by you on account of or arising out of the use of the Software. 6.2 Notwithstanding the provisions of the preceding paragraph, in case NEC makes any bug-fix version to the Software, NEC will, at its expense, furnish you with such bug-fix version, update version, or information in relation to such bug-fix or update version both in the source code form and object code form, and such bug-fix version or update version shall be considered as the licensed Software. 7. No liability In no event shall NEC be liable for any indirect or consequential damages or loss of profit or damages based on any third party claim, even if NEC has been advised of the possibility of such damages. 8. Others You must agree that any disputes concerning this Agreement will be settled at the Tokyo district court as the exclusively appointed court. [ Installation procedures ] Perform the following steps to extract the Software and update your BMC firmware and SDR. - How to extract: (1) Retry to login by root if the user is not a root user. (2) Download the update module to a desired directory. (3) The software will be extracted to the specified folder by "tar zxvf B115BFL.tar.gz".
