[General Notice]

1. The order of the installation: NEC ESMPRO ESMDiskArray
The software works in cooperation with ESMDiskArray Ver1.50 or later
when you monitor the computer by using NEC ESMPRO Manager Ver. 4.0 -
   5.1.
Please be sure to install ESMDiskArray before installing this software.
Otherwise, the extra alert notification or no alert
notification may be sent. Please install ESMDiskArray and then this
   software.

2. Use of Update Installation or Add Installation
Universal RAID Utility Ver2.3 does not support Update Installation
   and Add Installation.
If you need Universal RAID Utility update, you must uninstall the
   previous version at first.

3. About support of Solid State Drive(SSD)
To display the Solid State Drive correctly in the environment where
either of the following RAID Controllers is used, you need the driver
and firmware which supports the Solid State Drive.
   - Onboard RAID Controller (LSI Embedded MegaRAID)
The Solid State Drive is displayed as the Hard Disk Drive in Universal
     RAID Utility Ver2.32.
   - N8103-109 RAID Controller (128 MB, RAID 0/1/5/6)
Please check if the version of firmware is 1.05.0070.08 or later.
If it is older than 1.05.0070.08, the Solid State Drive is displayed as
Hard Disk Drive. For how to check the version of the firmware, refer to
the User's Guide of N8103-109 RAID Controller.

4. The TCP ports Universal RAID Utility uses have been changed in Ver2.33 and
   the later versions as follows.
data port - 52805(Ver2.32 and earlier) - 5016(Ver2.33 and later)
event port - 52806(Ver2.32 and earlier) - 5017(Ver2.33 and later)
raidsrv Agent - 52807(Ver2.32 and earlier) - 5018(Ver2.33 and later)

The change has no effect on operations of Universal RAID Utility.
In the following cases, however, you must change the settings of Universal
RAID Utility depending on your environment settings. Be sure to check the
description in [TCP ports used by Universal RAID Utility] in the Universal
   RAID Utility User's Guide.
   (1) You customized the TCP ports Universal RAID Utility uses and you would
like to continue using them, and/or
   (2) You are going to update Universal RAID Utility from Ver2.32 or earlier
versions to Ver2.33 or later versions using ExpressUpdate.

Also you must change the settings of other applications in the following
cases. Be sure to check the description in [TCP ports used by Universal
RAID Utility] in the Universal RAID Utility User's Guide.
   (1) You have specified the TCP port numbers Universal RAID Utility uses
        for the firewall settings, and/or
   (2) Other applications in you environment have been using the TCP ports,
        5016, 5017, and 5018.

[Revision History]
  2014/12/25 Ver2.36 Rev 2861
  "Enhancement"
     1. Enhanced feature to detect a Medium Error on the Physical Devices.
Universal RAID Utility registers "A Medium Error was Frequently
Detected" or "A Medium Error was Intermittently Detected" event
message when the Medium Error was detected frequently or
intermittently on the same Physical Device.
     2. A new feature is added to stop Patrol Read and Consistency Check
        automatically.
When Patrol Read or Consistency Check is running and it detects
a Medium Error on the Physical Device frequently, the Patrol Read or
the Consistency Check is automatically stopped to suppress
deterioration of access performance to the Physical Device.
     3. A new option is added to enable/disable the Automatic Stop for
        Consistency Check.
Basically the Consistency Check is automatically stopped when it
detects a Medium Error on the same Physical Device frequently during
the run. Therefore you cannot check the whole data to be consistent
in this case. However you can execute the Consistency Check through
entire Logical Drive by the "Automatic Stop Disabled" function even
if a Medium Error is detected frequently.
     4. A new feature is added to detect unexpected change of RAID configuration.
Universal RAID Utility registers a "RAID System unstable" event
message when there is a Physical Device which is excluded from the RAID
configuration even though it is not failure.

and Make Offline can be used.
          - The parameters such as priority of some operations and Cache
Mode of Logical Drive can be changed.
        2.3 Monitoring of RAID System
          - The state of RAID System can be seen at a glance by displaying
the icon and status on Data Viewer.
          - The event occurred on the RAID System can be received as alert
            on Alert Viewer.
          - The RAID Log similar to Log Viewer can be browsed on Data Viewer.
     3. Operation
The function to start Consistency Check to all Logical Drives is added
raidcmd can start Consistency Check following Logical Drives at a time.
        - All Logical Drives of all RAID Controllers
        - All Logical Drives of a RAID Controller
  "Changes"
     1. Setup Program of Universal RAID Utility
Setup Program does not check whether or not to install Microsoft
.NET Framework and Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 library.
     2. Display of information
The status definition of RAID Controller made by Promise is changed
When a broken physical device is replaced with a hot spare because
of hot swap rebuilding, etc., and no longer a member of the logical
drive, Universal RAID Utility Ver2.01 has changed the state of the
        Physical Device into "Ready."
Universal RAID Utility Ver2.11 changes the state of the Physical
        Device into "Failed."
     3. Log/Event
Changing the policy of event logging to RAID Log
        - The event of changing Cache Mode of Logical Drive changed by RAID
Viewer and raidcmd is not registered in RAID Log as an event.
        - The "Degraded" event of Logical Drive that RAID level is 6 is
registered to RAID Log when one Physical Device becomes "Failed"
and also when two Physical Devices become "Failed."
        - Improved the error detection condition for "Temperature Fatal" of
          an Enclosure.

You can check the integrity of the downloaded file by comparing the
following values in the md5sum column and the MD5 checksums of the files
you have downloaded. If the checksums do not match, it means an error
occurred during download.
