===============================================================================
[ About the software ]
N8103-149/150/151/160/N8403-059F RAID controller firmware update module
(hereinafter referred to as "the software") is used for updating the firmware
of the following RAID controllers.

   1) N8103-149/150/151/160
   2) N8403-059F

[ Software versions that require the update ]

The following RAID Controller firmware versions need to be updated:

        3.140.65-1587
        3.140.75-1628
        3.140.95-1967
        3.140.115-2999
        3.140.125-3364

  NOTE:
    If your RAID Controller firmware version is later than the above, the
    update is not required (the latest revisions already include the functions
    to be added by the software).

This update fixes the following phenomena.
  <Modification made in 3.140.135-4041>
   1) In some cases of using the HDD with more than 3TB, specific rare errors
      may not be retried, and the HDD degeneration may be caused.

  <Modification made in 3.140.125-3364>
   1) There are cases when 6Gb SATA devices link up with 3G link speed.

  <Modification made in 3.140.115-2999>
   1) The trickle charge could not be performed in rare cases when you use
      a Battery Backup Unit(BBU). If the BBU becomes not to perform the
      trickle charge, capacitance becomes 0 mAh in about 10 months and then
      BBU charging starts automatically after that. The charge would finish in 3
      hours and recover. The cache policy would change to the write thru mode
      for 2 hours during the process of the recovery.

   2) The battery refresh may not be performed immediately when you operate to
      execute the battery refresh. In this case the battery refresh will be
      performed late.

  <Modification made in 3.140.95-1967>
   1) When booting the system, "BIOS Handshaking With The F/W,Wait..." is
      sometimes displayed, and the operating system cannot be booted.

   2) When using 4 RAID controllers, the following phenomena occur.
      - Post stall occurs when console redirection is enabled.
      - The RAID Controller status does not appear on EXPRESSSCOPE Engine 3.

  <Modification made in 3.140.75-1628>
   1) When booting the system, memory initialization of the RAID controller may
      fail and the operating system cannot be booted.

[ How to confirm the RAID Controller firmware version ]

  <Using WebBIOS>
   1) Power on the system.
   2) When the following message appears, press the <Ctrl> and <H> keys.

           Press <Ctrl> <H> for WebBIOS

   3) On the [Adapter Selection] screen, select the RAID Controller and click
      the [Start] button.
   4) Select [Controller Properties] of the left-side menu.
   5) The RAID Controller firmware version of your system will be displayed.

  <Using Universal RAID Utility (RAID Viewer)>
   1) Start RAID Viewer.
   2) Click the RAID Controller displayed on the Tree View.
   3) Click [Properties] of the [File] menu.
   4) In the [RAID Controller Properties] dialog box displayed, select the
      [General] tab and check the value for "Firmware Version".

  <Using Universal RAID Utility (raidcmd)>
   1) Open a console window (Ex. command prompt).
   2) Run the following command.

      # raidcmd property -tg=rc -c=C <ENTER>
      *note*
       The "C" indicates the RAID Controller number.

   3) The RAID Controller firmware version of your system will be displayed.

For more information on how to use WebBIOS and Universal RAID Utility, refer to
"N8103-149/150/151/160 RAID Controller User's Guide" and "Universal RAID
Utility User's Guide".

 ** NOTE **
 * Incorrect update could result in the problems such as failure to boot the
  system. Read through the instructions in this document carefully for
  performing the update to prevent erroneous operation. When the system
  malfunctions or the power is disconnected during the update due to unexpected
  accidents such as power failure, lightning strike, power interruption and
  noise, it may result in damage to the device and system malfunction in the
  worst case. Please note that in such cases, repair may be required at your
  cost.
