Available Guest Operating Systems
The following are available as guest operating systems on Express5800 Series servers. A specific Service Pack (“SP”) is required for some operating systems.
When you use Windows Server 2016 Hyper-V on the Express 5800 Series servers, you should apply “Hyper-V Integration Services” to the guest operating system.
(“Hyper-V Integration Services” is a package of services that improve the performance and operability of a system in a Hyper-V virtualization environment.)

Considerations and Restrictions
Device Guard Virtualization based security feature
The Device Guard feature is currently not supported on Express 5800 Series servers.
When you install Hyper-V role, Device Guard Virtualization based security feature is automatically enabled.
you must disable this feature using the following tool before installing Hyper-V role.
For how to use the tool, click here.
After you install Hyper-V role, you can confirm if Device Guard Virtualization based security feature is disabled by the following steps.
- Right-click the left bottom of screen, and click Run from the menu displayed.
- Type "msinfo32", and then press the <Enter> key.
- Confirm if the property "Device Guard Virtualization based security" shows "not enabled".
You can use the disabling tool after
installing Hyper-V role.
There is no need to uninstall Hyper-V role for disabling Device Guard Virtualization based security feature.
SR-IOV (Single Root I/O Virtualization) Feature
The SR-IOV feature is currently not supported on Express 5800 Series servers.
Considerations for Exporting Virtual Machine
If you export a virtual machine with a physical CD/DVD drive allocated to it, the virtual machine settings for CD/DVD drive may show "Physical Drive Not Found" when you import the data. (The import itself is done successfully.)
If a physical CD/DVD drive is allocated to the virtual machine, cancel the allocation before exporting the virtual machine.
Restriction on Using Generation 2 Virtual Machine
The following issues will occur when you install Windows Server 2012 or Windows 8 (x64) on a generation 2 virtual machine.
- You cannot use the physical keyboard until the installation is done.
- You cannot use the physical keyboard in Windows Recovery Environment(Windows RE).
When you need to enter a product key to install a guest operating system, click on the keyboard icon on the right side of the input box to use the software keyboard.
When you need to specify the partition size, adjust the size using the UP/Down allows on the right side of the input box.
Considerations for Executing Sysprep on a Virtual Machine
The following issues will occur if you execute Sysprep after installing the Hyper-V Integration Services on guest operationg systems.
Issue 1:
The following types of guest operating systems do not boot.
- Windows Server 2012 on a generation 1 or generation 2 virtual machine
- Windows 8 (x64) on a generation 2 virtual machine
Issue 2:
Error occurs in Device Manager on the following types of guest operating systems.
- Windows 8 (x86/x64) on a generation 1 virtual machine
Take ether of the following workarounds if you execute Sysprep on those guest operating systems.
- Applying KB2779768 to the guest operating system before executing Sysprep.
- Applying KB2822241 to the guest operating system before executing Sysprep.
-
- Using /mode: VM option when executing Sysprep.
Unkown Devices appear in Device manager on a Virtual Machine
Uknown Devices may appear in Device Manager of the following guest operating systems after installing the Hyper-V Integration Services on guest operationg systems.
- Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 (x64)
- Windows 7 SP1 (x86/x64)
When you view the properties of these devices and check driver details, if Hardware IDs or Compatible IDs show the following, the unknown devices are harmless and can be ignored.
- vmbus\ {4487b255-b88c-403f-bb51-d1f69cf17f87}
- vmbus\ {3375baf4-9e15-4b30-b765-67acb10d607b}
- vmbus\ {99221fa0-24ad-11e2-be98-001aa01bbf6e}
- vmbus\ {f8e65716-3cb3-4a06-9a60-1889c5cccab5}
Considerations for Using enhanced session mode
When you connect a Windows 10 (verion 1511) guest operating system with enhanced session mode, if you use logon account which has no passwprd on the guest operating system, error message may appear and the enhanced session may discconect.
To avoid this issue, set the password of the logon account on Windows 10 guest operationg system.
Considerations for Executing Sysprep on a Windows 10 guest operating system
If you execute Sysprep with /mode: VM option on Windows 10 (version 1511) guest operation system, it may take a long time to deploy the image.
To avoid this issue, don't use /mode: VM option
when you execute Sysprep on Windows 10 guest operating system.
Considerations for Using a Physical CD/DVD Drive on a Guest Operating System
On a ft server, do not let a physical CD/DVD drive remain allocated to a virtual machine.
The guest operating system may stall if the PCI module is detached and the primary module is switched while the physical CD/DVD drive remain allocated to the virtual machine.
