[Software Introduction]
Universal RAID Utility (hereinafter called "this software") is RAID System
Management Utility for the following RAID Controllers.
  
  - Onboard RAID Controller on NEC Express5800/140Rf-4, R140a-4, B140a-T,
    120Rh-1, 120Ei, i120Ra-e1, 110Ri-1, 110Ge, R120a-1, T120a-E, GT110a,
    51Lf

    120Lj, R120a-1, R120a-2, T120a-M, T120a-E

When you manage the Computer that uses NEC ESMPRO Manager Ver. 4.0 - 
Ver. 5.1 and installs this software, please be sure to install NEC ESMPRO
Agent ESMDiskArray (hereinafter called "ESMDiskArray") first and then
install Universal RAID Utility. Otherwise the alert notifications of
Universal RAID Utility will not be correctly logged.
Please refer to the [Universal RAID Utility NEC ESMPRO Update Setup 
Procedure] for the detailed procedure of the installation.

Carefully read the following user license agreement for NEC software
before using this software. 
If you do not agree to the terms of the agreement, do not download this 
software. By downloading this software, you agree to be bound by the terms
of the agreement.

[User license agreement for NEC software] 
This user license agreement is an agreement between you and NEC Corporation
(hereinafter called "NEC"). 
Under the following terms of this agreement, NEC grants you the right to
use the software program (hereinafter called "licensed program"), and you
are to agree to the terms. You are to take responsibilities for the choice, 
installation, or use of the licensed program, or the results of the usage
of the usage of the licensed program.

1. Term 
(1) This user license agreement goes into effect on the day you receive
    this software product. 
(2) You may terminate the right to use the licensed program under this
    license agreement at any time by giving NEC a month's or longer notice
    by letter. 
(3) NEC may terminate your right to use the licensed program at any time,
    if you fail to comply with the terms of this user license agreement. 
(4) Your right to use the licensed program continues to exist until it
    terminates in accordance with the provisions of this user license
    agreement. 
(5) When your right to use the licensed program terminates, all of your
    other rights under this user license agreement also terminate. You must
    destroy the licensed program, all the copies of the licensed program,
    and the related documents (e.g., manuals) provided with the licensed
    program as soon as your right to use the licensed program terminates. 

2. Use right 
You may use the licensed program only on NEC Express5800 servers using your
Windows.

3. Copy, alteration, and linkage of the licensed program 
(1) You may make a copy of the licensed program only to use it as a backup
    copy in case the program data is lost or destroyed. However, this is
    not the case if the licensed program is installed in fixed storage.
    In this case, you may keep it only to use in case the storage medium of
    the licensed program is lost or destroyed. 
(2) You must give the expressions of the copyright of the licensed program
    and other rights to all the copies of the licensed program. 
(3) Unless otherwise specified in this user license agreement, you may not
    use, copy, alter, or link the licensed program, you may not reproduce
    it in publications or networks, or you may not make your own decision
    on handling it in any other ways. 
(4) You may not copy the related documents (e.g., manuals) provided with
    the licensed program or reproduce them in publications or networks
    under any circumstances. 
(5) This user license agreement is not to transfer the intellectual
    property for the licensed program to you. 

4. Transfer of the licensed program 
(1) You may transfer all of your rights under this user license agreement
    only if satisfying all the following condition: 
(a) You are to transfer this user license agreement, the licensed program,
    all the copies of the licensed program, and the related documents
    (e.g., manuals) provided with the licensed program, and retain none of
    them. 
(b) The recipient agrees to the terms of this user license agreement. 
(2) Unless otherwise specified in this user license agreement, you may not
    loan or transfer the licensed program or the right to use it to a third
    party, or you may not make your own decision on handling it in any
    other ways. 

5. Decompilation 
You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the licensed program. 

6. Term of a guarantee 
(1) NEC does not give any guarantee for the licensed program. You are to be
    liable and to pay for problems arising from the use of the licensed
    program. 
(2) Irrespective of the term (1), when NEC corrects licensed-program errors
    (bugs), NEC may, at its discretion, provide an error-corrected program,
    a program for correction (hereinafter called a modification program),
    or information for correction by an NEC-decided method. The modification
    program provided to you is regarded as the licensed program. 

7. No liability 
 NEC assumes no liability for your lost profit, damages arising from
 special circumstances (including damages which NEC can or could foresee),
 or damages you are asked for by any third party. 

8. Others 
 Disputes over this user license agreement are to be settled at the Tokyo 
 District Court as the exclusively agreed competent court.

[Installation Procedure]

Please extract the installation image and then start installation.
Refer to the "Universal RAID Utility Ver2.1 User's Guide" which is contained
in the installation image for the detailed procedure of the installation.

(1) Download the archive "uru_211r1297e2.zip".

(2) Copy the archive to any folder in the server in which this software
    will be installed.

(3) The archive "uru_211r1297e2.zip" is in the Windows ZIP format. 
    After extracting the archive, the following files will appear.
    
    Universal RAID Utility Ver2.11 Installation Image
      Setup.exe    - Universal RAID Utility Setup Program
      doc folder   - Universal RAID Utility Ver2.1 User's Guide
      eci folder   - Setup Program of related module

(4) To install this software, please refer the section [Installation and
    Uninstallation (Windows)] in Universal RAID Utility Ver2.1 User's Guide.
    Log on with administrator permission and run Setup.exe.


[General Notice]

(1) The order of installation: NEC ESMPRO ESMDiskArray

  When you manage the Computer that uses NEC ESMPRO Manager Ver. 4.0 - 
  Ver. 5.1 and installs this software, This software works in cooperation
  with ESMDiskArray Ver 1.50 or later.
  For the cooperation with ESMDiskArray, it is necessary to install
  ESMDiskArray before installing this software.
  If you mistake the order, the extra alert notification or no alert
  notification may be sent. Please install ESMDiskArray and this software
  in the correct order.

   1. Addition of OS for management
     "Windows Server 2008 R2" and "Windows 7" are added to the OS for 
     management.

   2. Support of the function of RAID System management from remotely 
     by NEC ESMPRO Manager Ver. 5.2 or later
     Universal RAID Utility (Windows Edition) can manage the RAID System
     using NEC ESMPRO Manager Ver. 5.2 or later. The RAID system that 
     exists in a remote environment can be managed by using NEC ESMPRO
     Manager. Refer to "Management of RAID System using NEC ESMPRO
     Manager" for detail. 
     2.1 Reference to the information of RAID System
       - The information of RAID System can be referred to by the tree
         style as much as RAID Viewer by using Data Viewer.
       - The property information of RAID Controller, Battery, Logical
         Drive, Physical Device and Disk Array can be referred. 
     2.2 Maintenance of RAID System
       - The operations such as Consistency Check, Rebuild and Initialize
         can be run.
       - The maintenance functions such as Locate(Lamp), Make Online 
         and Make Offline can be use. 
       - The parameters such as priority of some operations and Cache
         Mode of Logical Drive can be change.
     2.3 Monitoring of RAID System
       - The state of RAID System can be easily understood by displaying
         the icon and status on Data Viewer.
       - The event happened on the RAID System can be received as alert
         on Alert Viewer.
       - The RAID Log similar to Log Viewer can be referred to on Data
         Viewer.

   3. Operation
     The function to start Consistency Check to all Logical Drive is added
     raidcmd can start Consistency Check following Logical Drive at a time.
     - All Logical Drives of all RAID Controllers
     - All Logical Drives of a RAID Controller

  [Changes]
   1. Setup Program of Universal RAID Utility
     Setup Program does not check whether or not to install Microsoft 
     .NET Framework and Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 library.

   2. Display of information
     The status definition of RAID Controller made by Promise is changed
     When the broken Physical Device replaces with Hot Spare and falls
     out from Logical Drive caused by Hot Swap etc, Universal RAID Utility
     Ver2.01 has changed the state of Physical Device into "Ready."
     Universal RAID Utility Ver2.11 changes the state of Physical Device 
     into "Failed."

   3. Log/Event
     Changing the policy of event logging to RAID Log
     - The event of changing Cache Mode of Logical Drive changed by RAID
       Viewer and raidcmd is not registered in RAID Log as an event.
     - The "Degraded" event of Logical Drive that RAID level is 6 is 
       registered to RAID Log in both timing when one Physical Device 
       becomes "Failed" and when two Physical Devices become "Failed."
     - Improved the error detection condition for "Temperature Fatal" of
       an Enclosure.
