[ Customers using BMC Firmware Revision 02.27 or later ]

  In case it is necessary to downgrade BMC Firmware Revision 02.27 or later, follow the procedure below:

  1. Downgrade the BMC Firmware.
     Please follow the procedure in readme attached to the BMC Firmware.
  2. Run Configuration Initialization on Server Configuration Utility(On-line for Windows/Linux)
     or Server Configuration Utility(Off-line).
     Server Configuration Utility(On-line for Windows/Linux) is stored in EXPRESSBUILDER attached 
     the server.
     Server Configuration Utility(Off-line) is started up by pushing F4 key during 
     POST(Power On Self Test) screen.
  3. All configurations for the BMC Firmware are cleared by the previous step.
     Please re-configure the BMC Firmware settings.

  NOTE
    - NEC doesn't recommend downgrading BMC Firmware.
      Please use latest BMC Firmware if at all possible.
    - To prevent the incorrect operation of BMC Firmware, please read the procedure for downgrading 
      carefully.
    - All configurations for BMC Firmware are cleared after executing this procedure.
      Please write down all of BMC configurations before downgrading for the reconfiguration.


[ Customers using the Express5800/R120f-1M, Express5800/R120f-2M, Express5800/R120f-1E ]

  Update ROM Utility (Off-line TOOL), in order to use BMC Firmware Revision 02.27 or later.
  After confirming "Models and software revisions to update" in the download page of the ROM Utility
  (Off-line TOOL), update it if applicable. ROM Utility(Off-line TOOL) update tool can be downloaded from here.


[ About the software ]

  The Express5800/R120f-1M, Express5800/R120f-2M, Express5800/R120f-1E, Express5800/R120g-1M,
  Express5800/R120g-2M, Express5800/R120g-1E BMC firmware and SDR update module ("the software") supports
  the following functional enhancement in the Express5800/R120f-1M, Express5800/R120f-2M,
  Express5800/R120f-1E, Express5800/R120g-1M, Express5800/R120g-2M, Express5800/R120g-1E models:

   - To improve security, updated the OpenSSL to the latest 1.1.1 base.
   - Extend the term of validity for the SSL Certificate and the Java Code Signing Certificate.


  Note:
  - To prevent a system failure, please read this document carefully and follow the procedure for
    successful update.  Should your system malfunctions or is powered off due to an unplanned event
    during update (for example, power blackout or cutoff, lightening, and noise), the system may be
    damaged and fails to operate normally.  In this case, any remedial measures shall be taken at your
    expense.

  - This software does not support virtualization environment.

  - Before BMC firmware update, please make sure that a drive letter has been assigned 
    to the virtual CD/DVD drive on Windows OS if the Remote Media function of the BMC firmware is enabled.

  - A remote KVM console or IPMI information display function in this version can't be launched on
    the Java environment earlier than Oracle Java7u25. If you would like to update to this version,
    please update to the Java environment higher than Java7u40.

  NOTE:
    If your BMC firmware revision is later than the above, you do not require the update
    (the latest revisions already include the functions to be added by the software).

   - How to confirm your BMC Firmware and SDR revision:

     Please make sure to confirm proper BMC Firmware and SDR revision by any of the following means.(*1)

     * How to confirm by the server which will be updated *

     - By BIOS Setup, to confirm your BMC Firmware and SDR revision:

     (1)  Power on the system.
     (2)  When the following message appears, press the F2 key to start the BIOS Setup Menu.

                              "Press <F2> to enter SETUP"

     (3)  Using the arrow keys, move the cursor to [Server]. 
     (4)  Select the [System Management] sub menu and press the Enter key. 
     (5)  The software revisions of your system will be displayed. 
     (6)  After confirmation of the software revisions, press the ESC key and exit the [System Management]
          sub menu.
     (7)  Move the cursor to [Exit], using the arrow keys. 
     (8)  Select [Exit Discarding Changes], and exit the BIOS Setup Menu. 


     * How to confirm by the remote access *

     - By EXPRESSSCOPE Engine 3, to confirm your BMC Firmware and SDR revisions:

     (1)  Run EXPRESSSCOPE Engine 3.
     (2)  Select the [system] tab.
     (3)  Select the [IPMI information] sub menu.

     Confirmation of BMC Firmware revision

     (4)  Select the [MC] button and select [basbrd Mgmt Ctrl].
     (5)  Check [Firmware Revision].

     Confirmation of SDR revision

     (6)  Select the [SDR] button and select LAST Record ID / Record Type : OEMSDR
     (7)  Check [[OEM Data] SDR Version].


     - By ESMPRO Manager Ver.6, to confirm your BMC Firmware and SDR revision:

     (1)  Run ESMPRO Manager Ver.6.
     (2)  After selecting the server, select the [Remote Control] tab.
     (3)  Select the [IPMI Information] sub menu.

     Confirmation of BMC Firmware revision

     (4)  Select the [MC(Management Controller) Information] sub menu.
     (5)  Select the [Basbrd Mgmt Ctlr] sub menu.
     (6)  The BMC firmware revision of your system will be displayed.

     Confirmation of SDR revision

     (7)  Select the [SDR-Management Information] sub menu and press the Enter key.
     (8)  The SDR revision of your system will be displayed.



Please read the following User License Agreement ("Agreement") carefully.

Downloading the Software indicates your acceptance of the terms and conditions of the Agreement.

[User License Agreement]

NEC Corporation ("NEC") grants you the right to use the software program ("Software") under the terms
and conditions of this Agreement only in the country in which you acquired the Software. You shall
agree to all provisions of this Agreement and assume responsibility for selection, installation, use 
and effect of the Software purchased for your desired effect.

<Agreement for the Software>

1. Terms 
1.1 This Agreement shall come into force on the date of your receipt of the Software.
1.2 You may terminate the license granted hereunder by notifying us in writing at least one month
    prior to the desired termination date.
1.3 NEC may terminate the license granted you hereunder at any time if you fail to comply with any
    terms and conditions of this Agreement. 
1.4 The license to the Software shall remain in force until the license is terminated on the date
    set forth hereunder. 
1.5 Upon termination of the license, other rights granted you hereunder shall also be terminated.
    You must destroy or dispose of the Software, any copies of the Software and manual and other
    materials provided with the Software. 

2. Copyright 
2.1 The Software shall solely be used in the NEC Express5800 servers.
2.2 NEC grants you the right to use the Software only in the country in which you acquired the 
    Software in accordance with the conditions of the preceding paragraph.

3. Copying, altering, and combining of the Software
3.1 You may only make one copy of the Software solely for a backup purpose,
    provided, however, that the copy of the Software is loaded into permanent memory of the system.
    You may store the Software solely to prevent damages or loss of the memory media.
3.2 You shall place the copyright notice and other legends on each copy of the Software.
3.3 You may not use, copy, alter, combine, publish, reproduce the Software over the Internet, or
    otherwise dispose of the Software except as provided in this Agreement. 
3.4 You may not copy, publish the manual or other related documentation provided with the Software,
    or reproduce such manual and documentation over the Internet.
3.5 No intangible property right to the Software shall be transferred to you.

4. Transfer
4.1 You may assign your rights granted hereunder to a third party only if all conditions below are
    satisfied: 
    a. You shall assign and shall not retain this Agreement, the Software, allcopies of the
    Software, or the manual or other related documentationprovided with the Software. 
    b. The transferee agrees to this Agreement.
4.2 You shall not sublicense, assign, transfer, or otherwise dispose of the Software or the right of
    use to any third party except as provided herein.

5. Reverse compile
   You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise disassemble the Software.

6. Limitation of warranties
6.1 The Software is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. In no event shall NEC be liable
    with respect to any claim by you on account of or arising out of the use of the Software.
6.2 Notwithstanding the provisions of the preceding paragraph, in case NEC makes any bug-fix version
    to the Software, NEC will, at its expense, furnish you with such bug-fix version, update version,
    or information in relation to such bug-fix or update version both in the source code form and
    object code form, and such bug-fix version or update version shall be considered as the licensed
    Software.

7. No liability 
    In no event shall NEC be liable for any indirect or consequential damages or loss of profit or 
    damages based on any third party claim, even if NEC has been advised of the possibility of such
    damages. 


[ Installation procedures ]

Perform the following steps to extract the Software and update your BMC firmware.

- How to extract:

(1) Retry to login by root if the user is not a root user.
(2) Download the update module to a desired directory.
(3) The software will be extracted to the specified folder by "tar zxvf B0231S00100680L.tar.gz".
(4) The folder has "READMEE.txt" which is the installation procedures (readme file).

- How to update:

(1) Perform the steps of the readme file to update the BMC firmware.
