[ About the software ]
This BMC Firmwaer and SDR update module (hereinafter called "the software")
suppots the following functional enhancement in the NEC Express5800/E120d-1
models:
- Added the function for agentless monitoring of onboard LAN ports.
- Added a new display resolution supported by latest display driver.
- Modified the SMTP client processing.
- Support video record for the remote KVM console of the EXPRESSSCOPE Engine 3.
- Support the Access Information to log the following event.
- Clear the Access Information.
- Clear the SEL.
- Fixed the issue that SEL repository full setting is not initialized by BMC
Initialization.
- Fixed the issue that some sensor information is not displayed correctly in
WS-Management feature.
- Fixed an issue where remote management feature may be unavailable in network
which causes packet loss frequently.
- The workaround of an issue that the cpu usage of the kipmi0 kernel thread
goes to 100% when BMC is reset with the following environment.
- The system uses the RHEL 6.4 as the Operating System.
The Operating System uses the Open IPMI driver.
- The system uses RHEL 6.x older than RHEL 6.4 as the Operating System.
The Operating System uses the Open IPMI driver.
And you set the BMC IRQ to Disabled.
- Fixed the issue that Mail and SNMP Alert settings are displayed as "disable"
although these settings are enabled after the BMC Firmware is updated.
- Fixed the issue that the BMC LAN is not available if invalid DNS Server
Address is set to the BMC.
- Fixed the issue that the system will be powerd off after power on when the
system takes over 30 second for shutdown that caused by ShutdownSystem
setting of Aggressive Mode in ECO function.
- Changed to configure IPMI authentication type same as ESMPRO Manager setting
when the network configuration is set by Web browser and BMC Configuration
Tool.
- Improved to show warning message when launching Remote KVM if the keyboard
language of Remote KVM is different from that of client OS.
- Improved to reflect the keyboard input of Remote KVM even when the client OS
is in Japanese input mode.
- Improved the problem that the "Ctrl+Alt+Del" button on the Remote KVM will
no longer function after pressing the "Ctrl" and "Alt" button and inputting
any physical keyboard.
- Added "Enable HTTP1.1" as the necessary setting of browser on the "Client
Environment" of "Help".
Note:
- To prevent a system failure, please read this document carefully and follow
the procedure for successful update. Should your system malfunctions or is
powered off due to an unplanned event during update (for example, power
blackout or cutoff, lightning, and noise), the system may be damaged and
fails to operate normally. In this case, any remedial measures shall be
taken at your expense.
- This software does not support virtualization environment.
- To use for this software on Linux(R) OS environment, "OpenIPMI" package must
have been installed and executed.
- This software does not support an update of SDR depending on the kinds of CPU
or Power Supply Unit. Please use an offline update module.
- Before BMC firmware update, please make sure that a drive letter has been assigned
to the virtual CD/DVD drive on Windows OS if the Remote Media function of the
BMC firmware is enabled.
- This software supports the ExpressUpdate.
The BMC firmware update supports via both of Management Controller and
ExpressUpdate Agent.

[ Target Users for Update ]
This software is available for the users who use the following models with the
following BMC firmware versions.

BMC Firmware Revision: 00.03
BMC Firmware Revision: 00.07
BMC Firmware Revision: 00.09

NOTE:
If your BMC firmware revision are later than the above, you do not
require the update(the latest revisions already include the functions to be
added by the software).
How to confirm your BMC Firmware and SDR revision:
- By ESRAS Utility of NEC ESMPRO Agent
(1) Run the ESRAS Utility.
(2) Select the [Intelligent Platform Management Interface] sub menu.
To confirm BMC Firmware version
(3) Select the [Management controller information] sub menu.
(4) Select the [Basbrd Mgmt Ctlr] sub menu.
(5) The BMC firmware revision of your system will be displayed.
To confirm SDR version
(6) Select the [Senosr Data Record(SDR)] and the [Repository Information] sub menu.
(7) The SDR version of your system will be displayed.
- By BIOS Setup, to confirm your BMC Firmware and SDR revision:
(1) Power on the system.
(2) When the following message appears, press the F2 key to start the BIOS
Setup Menu.
"Press <F2> SETUP"
(3) Using the arrow keys, move the cursor to [Server].
(4) Select the [System Management] sub menu and press the Enter key.
(5) The software revisions of your system will be displayed.
(6) After confirmation of the software revisions, press the ESC key and exit
the [System Management] sub menu.
(7) Move the cursor to [Exit], using the arrow keys.
(8) Select [Exit Discarding Changes], and exit the BIOS Setup Menu.
- By NEC ESMPRO Manager Ver.5, to confirm your BMC Firmware and SDR revision:
(1) Run NEC ESMPRO Manager Ver.5 on remote PC.
(2) After selecting the server, select the [Remote Control] tab.
(3) Select the [IPMI Information] sub menu.
To confirm BMC Firmware version
(4) Select the [MC(Management Controller) Information] sub menu.
(5) Select the [Basbrd Mgmt Ctlr] sub menu.
(6) The BMC firmware revision of your system will be displayed.
To confirm SDR version
(7) Select the [SDR-Management Information] sub menu and press the Enter key.
(8) The SDR version of your system will be displayed.
- By EXPRESSSCOPE(R) Engine 3 Web Server function
(1) Run EXPRESSSCOPE(R) Engine 3 Web Server function.
(2) Select the [System] sub menu.
(3) Select the [IPMI Information] sub menu.
To confirm BMC Firmware version
(4) Select the [MC] sub menu.
(5) Select the [Primary FRU Device] sub menu.
(6) The BMC Firmware revision of your system will be displayed.
To confirm SDR version
(7) Select the [SDR] sub menu.
(8) Select LAST Record ID / Record Type : OEMSDR
(9) The SDR version of your system will be displayed.

NEC Corporation ("NEC") grants you the right to use the software program
("Software") under the terms and conditions of this Agreement only in the
country in which you acquired the Software. You shall agree to all provisions
of this Agreement and assume responsibility for selection, installation, use
and effect of the Software purchased for your desired effect.
1. Terms
1.1 This Agreement shall come into force on the date of your receipt of the
Software.
1.2 You may terminate the license granted hereunder by notifying us in writing
at least one month prior to the desired termination date.
1.3 NEC may terminate the license granted you hereunder at any time if you
fail to comply with any terms and conditions of this Agreement.
1.4 The license to the Software shall remain in force until the license is
terminated on the date set forth hereunder.
1.5 Upon termination of the license, other rights granted you hereunder shall
also be terminated. You must destroy or dispose of the Software, any copies
of the Software and manual and other materials provided with the Software.
2. Copyright
2.1 The Software shall solely be used in the NEC Express5800 servers and
workstations.
2.2 NEC grants you the right to use the Software only in the country in which
you acquired the Software in accordance with the conditions of the
preceding paragraph.
3. Copying, altering, and combining of the Software
3.1 You may only make one copy of the Software solely for a backup purpose,
provided, however, that the copy of the Software is loaded into permanent
memory of the system. You may store the Software solely to prevent damages
or loss of the memory media.
3.2 You shall place the copyright notice and other legends on each copy of the
Software.
3.3 You may not use, copy, alter, combine, publish, reproduce the Software over
the Internet, or otherwise dispose of the Software except as provided in
this Agreement.
3.4 You may not copy, publish the manual or other related documentation
provided with the Software, or reproduce such manual and documentation over
the Internet.
3.5 No intangible property right to the Software shall be transferred to you.
4. Transfer
4.1 You may assign your rights granted hereunder to a third party only if all
conditions below are satisfied:
a. You shall assign and shall not retain this Agreement, the Software, all
copies of the Software, or the manual or other related documentation
provided with the Software.
b. The transferee agrees to this Agreement.
4.2 You shall not sublicense, assign, transfer, or otherwise dispose of the
Software or the right of use to any third party except as provided herein.
5. Reverse compile
You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise disassemble the Software.
6. Limitation of warranties
6.1 The Software is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. In no event
shall NEC be liable with respect to any claim by you on account of or
arising out of the use of the Software.
6.2 Notwithstanding the provisions of the preceding paragraph, in case NEC
makes any bug-fix version to the Software, NEC will, at its expense,
furnish you with such bug-fix version, update version, or information in
relation to such bug-fix or update version both in the source code form and
object code form, and such bug-fix version or update version shall be
considered as the licensed Software.
7. No liability
In no event shall NEC be liable for any indirect or consequential damages
or loss of profit or damages based on any third party claim, even if NEC
has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

[ Installation procedures ]
Perform the following steps to extract the Software and update your
BMC firmware.
- How to extract:
(1) Download update module to a desired directory.
(2) Extract downloaded module to a desired directory.
(3) The software and its installation procedures "README_EN_Online.TXT" will be
extracted to that specified folder.
- How to update:
(1) Perform the steps of the readme file to update the BMC firmware and SDR.

- Fixed the issue that the NEC ESMPRO Manager can not detect the BMC depending
on the network environment.
- Fixed the issue that BMC has the pottential to stall by using remote KVM function
after illegal BMC reset that will be caused by keeping to supply power to the server
over half year.
(Without using remote KVM function, BMC will not stall, only be resetted.)
BMC reset by the BMC reset button, EXPRESSSCOPE Engine 3 Web server,
and Command Line Interface, etc... doesn't occur this issue.
