Information Regarding the Use of Internet Explorer® on Express5800 Series Servers

Due to the change of Microsoft Support Lifecycle policy, Microsoft has ended support for older Internet Explorer (IE) versions on January 12, 2016.

Microsoft will no longer provide new security updates and patches for older IE versions after the end of support. Therefore we recommend you to upgrade IE to the versions that are supported on each operating system (OS) in any way, such as using Windows Update.

Microsoft’s Policy

The following (Table 1) is a list of supported OS and IE combinations. (As of January 2016)

Notes for upgrading IE

When installing Windows Server® 2008 R2 or earlier using an "Express5800 Series Backup DVD-ROM" media made by NEC, you need to apply a service pack and upgrade IE. Please read carefully the following procedure and take necessary actions.

  1. In order to upgrade IE to a supported version on each OS, the server needs to fulfill the minimum requirements for the OS. Before upgrading IE, please see Table 1 to confirm the minimum requirements for the OS and check whether a required service pack is installed in your system.
  2. If the service pack is not installed, please be sure to apply it referring to the related information listed below.
  3. Please upgrade IE to a supported version.
