Considerations and Restrictions

Considerations for Uninstalling the Hyper-V
In Windows Server 2022 Hyper-V environments, uninstalling the Hyper-V may delete ServerManager.exe.
This issue has been fixed in the cumulative updates for Windows Server 2022(KB5005104 or later).
Please apply KB5005104 or later before uninstalling the Hyper-V.
For information on the latest cumulative update, refer to "Windows Server 2022 update history".

In case ServerManager.exe has been deleted by uninstalling the Hyper-V in an environment where cumulative update KB5005104 or later had not been applied, you need to reinstall the operating system.
Restriction on Using Generation 2 Virtual Machine
The following issues will occur when you install Windows Server 2012 on a generation 2 virtual machine.
  • You cannot use the physical keyboard until the installation is done.
  • You cannot use the physical keyboard in Windows Recovery Environment(Windows RE).
When you need to enter a product key to install a guest operating system, click on the keyboard icon on the right side of the input box to use the software keyboard.
When you need to specify the partition size, adjust the size using the UP/Down allows on the right side of the input box.
SR-IOV (Single Root I/O Virtualization) Feature
The SR-IOV feature is currently not supported on Express 5800 Series servers.
Virtual Fibre Channel Adapter on a Guest Operating System
Using a fiber channel adapter on a guest operating system is not currently supported on the Express 5800 Series servers.
Considerations for Executing Sysprep on a Virtual Machine
The following issues will occur if you execute Sysprep after installing the Hyper-V Integration Services on guest operationg systems.

Issue: The following types of guest operating systems do not boot.

  • Windows Server 2012 on a generation 1 or generation 2 virtual machine

Take ether of the following workarounds if you execute Sysprep on those guest operating systems.

  • Applying KB2779768 to the guest operating system before executing Sysprep.
  • Applying KB2822241 to the guest operating system before executing Sysprep.
  • Using /mode:VM option when executing Sysprep.
